Nova is a leading provider of system safety to the Australian defence, utilities and rail markets. Our team is highly experienced in architecting system safety programs, managing safety programs, conducting system safety design assessments and the development of System Safety Cases. Nova is also one of the few providers of System Safety training in the Australasian region.

As a subset of Safety Engineering, Nova specialises in Human Factors engineering and workload review which in the past has translated our experience from review of the design of aircraft and helicopter cockpits to assessing human capabilities and limitations as input to the design and placement of operator controls and displays in rail rolling stock design and accident investigation. Our teams blend specialist engineering and highly experienced systems operators to generate real world assessments and deliver practical and enduring solutions.

Nova Systems has significant safety management experience in the areas of Systems Safety Engineering and management of hazardous activities. Our core competencies are derived from providing systems engineering and management solutions to the safety critical industries of aerospace, defence – air/land/maritime/ordnance, medical, biotechnology, rail and resource sectors. The vast majority of Nova business has been conducted for government agencies, and increasingly with large hazard industries such as rail, electricity and gas energy - generation and distribution.
