The solution integrates with Spatial Services existing Jira Service Desk to submit and track data and data custodian requests, which are then processed into actionable tasks within the solution.
The Automated Infrastructure Data Pipeline (AIDP) project provides a single authoritative source of quality spatial data to improve decision making and planning capabilities. The project ensures NSW government agencies have access to a full and comprehensive range of infrastructure data. Nova’s solution streamlined the data management process, reducing manual effort and oversight while improving accessibility to key datasets.
Solution
The AIDP leveraged the current Jira Server with its customer portal setup and extended it with additional request types, workflows, and screens for Data Team Members, Data Custodians, and public users. The AIDP added attributes to the objects in the existing Jira database, the “Data Catalogue”, to manage and track the ingestion of data and all tasks associated with the data transformation process.
These include antivirus scan details, data validation and transformation details, data destination location, data expiry date, Data Custodian Agreement details and TRIM agreement number.
The benefits of the AIDP are realised through the automation and integration between the component applications. The integration of JIRA allows users to manage their complex data ETL tasks with a familiar interface. Integration of Jira Service Desk for issue tracking and DocuSign for signing of Data Custodian Agreements, providing a single unified user experience.
Outcome
Nova’s solution delivers an efficient platform for ingesting, managing and distributing data and enables users to autonomously meet their data processing needs at Spatial Services. By integrating off the shelf tools such as JIRA, DocuSign, and Service Desk, the AIDP solution provides a unified pipeline that is familiar and guides users to efficiently manage their data processing workloads.
