As technical advisor, Nova Systems led the extensive technical assessment with the Australian Space Agency assessing applications for the launch facility licence and launch permit, recently granted by the Commonwealth Government.
“Nova Systems has been at the forefront of what is an exciting time for the growing space industry across Australia, leveraging more than two decades of unique, sovereign Woomera Range launch experience and supporting the regulator on technical matters that maintain the Australian Government’s launch safety standards,” CEO, Jim McDowell, said.
Nova Systems, a lead technical advisor to the Office of the Space Regulator, has worked closely with Equatorial Launch Australia in all facets of the application process. A technical team has been onsite during each of the three launches supporting the work of the Launch Safety Officer. This includes launch safety advice, overseeing operations and monitoring conditions to the Australian Space Agency.
Nova Systems’ support of the Australian Space Agency and working with Launch Service Providers across Australia will help set the benchmarks moving forward for launch safety management.
Jim McDowell, CEO
“Our team is made up of highly skilled people with years of experience across the space, range operations and aerospace industries,” Mr McDowell said.
“We have long supported launch safety and satellite communications projects, and more recently have established the Nova Space Precinct near Peterborough SA, a Satellite Ground Station Facility supporting Government and Commercial entities. We have also committed, with key partners, to developing a purpose-built facility that will design and manufacture satellites in Australia.
“It highlights that Nova Systems has the right people and capabilities, on the ground in Australia, to support all facets of this growing industry.”
Nova Systems provided technical operations and range safety, cyber security, environmental compliance assessment, explosive ordnance (rocket fuel handling and safety) and launch safety modelling capabilities to assessments across the extensive approvals process.
