The National Freight Data Hub is a demonstration of the value of improved freight data, capable of improving the efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness of Australia's freight supply chains, and insights to help keep freight moving, particularly during uncertain times.
The website developed by Nova Systems (formerly Geoplex) contains geospatial data, time-enabled maps and graphs and is the first publicly-searchable freight data directory for Australia.
Nova Systems was chosen by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications to build a prototype website featuring interactive insights and cutting-edge geospatial visualisation tools for industry and governments to gain a national picture of freight movements.
The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Australia Awards recognise the outstanding work accomplished in the Intelligent Transport Systems industry. This year awards were presented across seven categories to award excellence in the collective pursuit of safer, better and more sustainable transport in Australia.
Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport, The Hon Scott Buchholz
Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport, The Hon Scott Buchholz, congratulated the team on the win.
“The award-winning Hub prototype, developed in conjunction with Nova Systems, invites the public to explore the data currently accessible and provide feedback on website experience,” Mr Bucholz said.
“Freight operators, producers and customers will benefit from the insights generated into how and where freight is being moved, where the delays are and where the opportunities are to become more globally competitive.
“A huge congratulations and thank you to those who were involved in producing the Hub, including the Department, all staff, Nova Systems and all cross-industry stakeholders. I look forward to following the progress of the Hub as it works to improve the quality and accessibility of freight data.”
