Nova assists to harness satellite imagery to revolutionise flood management

A SmartSat project quantifying major flood events using advanced satellite technology is seeking to transform the way Australia manages future weather events and provide governments with the tools they need to respond quickly and efficiently in times of crisis.

The project is a collaboration between the University of New South Wales, Nova Systems, and the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

The project aims to advance flood analysis using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical satelitte imagery technologies.
