Driver safety, managing fatigue and responding to emergencies across distances is critical. A data-driven system was needed to reduce road trauma and protect drivers and the community.
Solution
Essential Energy implemented a comprehensive Fleet Management and Driver Safety solution across all 2,000+ road-going assets, using GAP. The system aimed to locate vehicles in distress, promote safe driving through behaviour data, manage fatigue via journey tracking and capture asset data for life-cycle management. It features a manual duress button, automatic rollover detection and records GPS, speed, acceleration, braking and journey times. A user-friendly portal provides drivers and managers secure and convenient access to data, backed by our responsive local support team. Extensive field trials ensured adoption, with strong value alignment between Essential Energy and Nova Systems.
Outcome
Essential Energy reduced road risk, improved driver behaviour and lowered fuel use. The system helped recover stolen vehicles and even enabled staff to assist a community member after an accident where no mobile signal was available. These results earned Essential Energy industry recognition for leadership in fleet and community safety.
