SEA2400 Hydrographic Data Collection Capability - Australian Defence Force

08/05/23

The Ships Acquisition Division within the Capability Acquisition & Sustainment Group (CASG) engaged Nova Systems to provide project office support for the procurement of a Hydrographic Data Collection Capability as part of the 2016 Defence White Paper

The Australian Government sought to replace the Royal Australian Navy hydrographic capability with an efficient combination of military and commercial hydrographic and oceanographic survey capabilities.

Solution

Nova Systems was part of the Integrated Project Team providing services including project management, solicitation documentation, maritime systems engineering, and capability development professionals. We also provided sustainment and logistics support specialists and commercial support to the team.

The team provided the project documentation suite for Phase 1 review of alternative capability solutions and the parallel development of an invitation to register interest and artefacts to support the competitive evaluation process. This included contract coordination activities for the two independent capability elements (Hydro Industry Partnership Programme and Strategic Military Survey Capability).

Outcome

The project successfully achieved second pass and included delivery of the Capability Definition and Requirements Documents, conduct of the Hydro Scheme Industry Partnership Program solicitation, successful procurement, and management of the Strategic Military Survey Capability solicitation activity. Nova provided support to management of the project schedule, finances, risk, scope and reporting on the project.
