SPARTAN will deliver the synthetic training capability for collective training at the Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels. Due to the complexity and operational need, SPARTAN has been redefined and is now pushing forward to delivery at pace, integrating existing and off-the-shelf hardware and software products.
Solution
Nova Systems has been contracted from the inception of the SPARTAN programme to provide deep technical SQEP in Modelling & Simulation capabilities, programmatic support and maritime training expertise.
Nova Systems has used its independent thought leadership to develop the overall technical architecture and approach for the programme, aligning this approach with programmatic constraints of a governmental procurement system. This has established a long-term relationship which has allowed the programme to progress through various approval points, requiring flexible resource allocation and applying the right skills at the right time.
Outcome
SPARTAN is on the cusp of delivering the Maritime Command and Staff Trainer (MCAST) to meet the requirements of Tranche 1 of the programme, and recently achieved approval of the Outline Business Case (OBC) for Tranche 2.
This will see the baseline capability developed and delivered to facilitate later Tranches of the programme which will deliver synthetic training at sea.
