Nova Systems continues collaboration with UK Ministry of Defence to advance experimentation and capability development.

08/10/25

The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) has reaffirmed its collaboration with Nova Systems to advance experimentation through synthetic environments, an essential enabler of future capability development and informed decision-making across major defence programmes.

The partnership is integral to the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to harnessing innovation in support of operational advantage. By working with Nova Systems, UK MOD can explore new approaches to experimentation that provide valuable insight for decision making and programme delivery.

Nova Systems brings a distinctive blend of analytics, modelling & simulation (M&S), and experimentation expertise, underpinned by deep operational understanding. This integrated approach ensures that insights remain directly relevant to the challenges posed by current and future threats, while supporting the delivery of complex defence programmes at pace.

As highlighted in the recent Strategic Defence Review, innovation and agility are central to the UK’s defence posture. The MOD’s collaboration with Nova Systems exemplifies this approach, leveraging M&S to test, iterate, and refine capabilities quicker with objective evidence.

“This initiative provides Air with the ability to conduct organic Air-focused experimentation to accelerate and de-risk Capability and Force Development, using Nova's expertise and experience to augment MOD capacity, maintain MOD ownership of the process, and maximise collaboration with sister Services, Dstl and industry partners,” said Group Captain Ruari Henderson-Begg, Chief Modelling and Simulation Officer, Air Command.

“Nova Systems work alongside the Ministry of Defence enables experimentation through synthetic environments, demonstrating the vital role industry can play in helping defence meet current and future threats. By combining analytics, modelling and simulation, and operational expertise, we are enabling rapid, evidence-based development of capability. This continued collaboration reflects our shared ambition to deliver innovation at pace and ensure the UK’s armed forces are equipped for the challenges of tomorrow,” said Gareth Dyer, Managing Director, Nova Systems International.
