NSW Bush Fire Management Committees relied on complex and fragmented processes to develop Strategic Bush Fire Management Plans.
They needed an easy-to-use platform that would enable collaboration, improve visibility of bushfire risk information and support planning activities for users with varying levels of technical expertise.
Solution
Nova Systems partnered with the NSW Rural Fire Service to develop the Bush Fire Management Committee Information Portal (BIP), a map-based collaboration platform that brings bushfire risk data, planning tools and stakeholder feedback into a single environment.
Designed specifically for non-technical users, BIP allows committees to create, review and manage risk mitigation treatments and strategies through intuitive mapping, commenting and collaboration tools. The platform also supports fire trail and fire access planning workflows, providing a centralised approach to bushfire risk management and planning across NSW.
Outcome
BIP transformed the way Bush Fire Management Committees develop and manage Strategic Bush Fire Management Plans by providing a single, collaborative planning environment. The platform improved efficiency, streamlined stakeholder engagement, and enabled more consistent decision-making. It continues to support bushfire planning activities across NSW through a simple, accessible and scalable digital solution.
