This Cookie Policy explains how the Nova Group of companies (Nova, we, our or us) uses cookies and similar technologies on novasystems.com (the Website). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They let the website remember things about your visit, such as your preferences, and help us understand how the website is used. Similar technologies, such as pixels, tags and scripts, work in a similar way, and in this policy we call them all "cookies".

Some cookies are set by us (first-party cookies). Others are set by third-party services we use on the Website (third-party cookies), such as analytics and advertising providers.

How we ask for your consent

When you first visit the Website, a banner lets you:

  • Accept all cookies,
  • Reject all cookies except those that are strictly necessary, or
  • Customise your choices by category.

Closing the banner without making a choice does not count as consent. Analytics and marketing cookies are not set until you give consent for that category.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by selecting Cookie Settings in the footer of any page. Withdrawing consent stops those cookies from being set from that point on, and we remove the cookies we are able to remove from your browser.

To show that we have respected your choice, we keep an anonymous record of it: a random identifier, the categories you accepted or rejected, the date and time, and the version of this policy. This record does not include your IP address or any other information that identifies you.

The cookies we use

We group cookies into three categories. The Cookie Settings panel on the Website lists each cookie currently in use, and that list is kept up to date if our services change. Durations are set by each provider and are approximate.

1. Strictly necessary

These cookies are needed for the Website to work and cannot be switched off. They do not track you for analytics or advertising.

  • novaCookieConsent (Nova): Remembers your cookie choices so we don't ask you again on every visit. Duration: 6 months.

2. Analytics and performance

These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Website, such as which pages are popular and where people have difficulty, so we can improve it. They are only set if you accept Analytics.

  • _ga, _ga_* (Google Analytics): Distinguishes visitors and sessions to produce usage statistics. Duration: up to 2 years.
  • _gid, _gat* (Google Analytics): Distinguishes visitors and limits the rate of requests. Duration: up to 24 hours.
  • _hjSessionUser_*, _hjSession_* and related _hj* cookies (Hotjar): Records how visitors interact with pages (e.g. clicks, scrolling) as heatmaps and session recordings. Duration: up to 1 year.
  • Error monitoring (browser session storage) (Sentry): Records technical errors so we can find and fix faults. Duration: session.

3. Marketing and communications

These cookies are used by our advertising and marketing partners to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns, show you relevant Nova advertising on other websites, and help us understand which organisations are interested in our services. They are only set if you accept Marketing.

  • _gcl_au and Google advertising cookies (e.g. IDE, test_cookie on doubleclick.net) (Google Ads): Measures conversions from our Google advertising. Duration: up to 13 months.
  • li_sugr, bcookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory, li_fat_id (LinkedIn, Insight Tag): Measures the performance of our LinkedIn campaigns and enables audience targeting. Duration: up to 1 year.
  • _uetsid, _uetvid, MUID (Microsoft Advertising, Bing UET): Measures conversions from our Microsoft/Bing advertising and enables remarketing. Duration: up to 13 months.
  • TDID, TDCPM (on adsrvr.org) (The Trade Desk): Measures and targets our display advertising. Duration: up to 1 year.
  • _lfa (Leadfeeder, Dealfront): Identifies the organisation (not the individual) a visit comes from, to support business development. Duration: up to 2 years.
  • Call tracking cookies (Avanser): Shows a tracking phone number so we can tell which campaign or page led to a phone call. Duration: set by provider.
  • NID and related Google cookies (Google Maps): Displays the interactive office map on our Contact page and remembers your map preferences. Duration: up to 6 months.

If you don't accept Marketing cookies, the Contact page shows a location marker in place of the interactive map.

Third-party cookies

Third-party providers set and control their own cookies and process the information they collect under their own privacy policies. Some of these providers may transfer information outside your country. For more information, see the privacy policies of Google, Hotjar, LinkedIn, Microsoft, The Trade Desk, Dealfront (Leadfeeder) and Avanser.

Managing cookies in your browser

As well as using Cookie Settings, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, we can't remember your cookie choices, so you will be asked again on each visit. Guidance is available for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

You can also opt out of some interest-based advertising through Google Ads Settings and Your Online Choices (EU/UK).

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the services we use or when the law changes. When we make a material change, we will ask you to confirm your cookie choices again.
